| In 1913 the German Teddy bear industry was huge but with the outbreak of WW1 the importation of goods from Germany to Britain was seen as treason and this lead to the growth of British manufacturers including Chad Valley, Dean and Pedigree. The stuffing in Teddy bears then became softer as Kapok could be bought cheaply within the British Empire.
